Our passion statement is “Growing God’s Forever Family” based on John 15:5. It is our desire that every individual connect with God in Worship, Small Group, Ministry, and Mission. We encourage you to be a personal worshiper of God through surrendering your life to Him, and joining together with the people of God in congregational worship. The Bible is clear that God intends for His people to experience the community of Christian fellowship, and the primary way we do this is through the small group focus. This is primarily our Bible Fellowship Groups that meet on Sunday mornings for all ages. There are additional small group opportunities through the Discipleship groups that meet periodically and focus on specific subjects. Every person who is a follower of Jesus, has been spiritually gifted by the Holy Spirit and these gifts should be used in ministry for the Lord. There are many opportunities to be involved in ministry through the church. Mission, is why the church exists. To exalt God and make Him down the street and around the world.
How may I connect with the church?
We offer a Connect Class periodically, for students and adults who are interested in becoming a member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church. The class is one session on a Sunday morning, from 9-11:40 AM including a break. It covers the mission of the church, what we believe, how we are structured, and how you can be involved. There is no obligation to join the church if you attend the class and are considering doing so. Additionally, we periodically have a Now That I’m A Christian Class for Children who are seven years old or older, who have either trusted in Jesus as their Savior or who are interested in doing so. This is a four-week class during the Bible Fellowship time on Sunday mornings.
How may I become a church member?
There are several preliminary ways:
- By repenting of your sins and trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and publicly profess your faith in believers’ baptism.
- By transferring your “membership letter” from another Southern Baptist Church.
- By communicating your statement of faith in Jesus Christ, and baptism by immersion after salvation in a church of like faith and order.
In addition to one of these three ways applying to you, the expectation is that you will attend a Connect Class; be in agreement with the CLBC Constitution and By-Laws (our guiding principles); and be received into membership by the church family in a regularly scheduled quarterly Congregational Meeting. The names of everyone who has joined recently are shared with the congregation, and it is a time of blessing and rejoicing over God bringing new people into the local church family.
You may communicate your desire to connect with the church in membership at at any time. The Connect Class is a good opportunity to do so. Additionally, at the close of each worship service, we have a time of response. During that time, and also after the conclusion of the service, our pastors will receive you and answer any questions you have about becoming a follower of Jesus, being baptized in Believer’s Baptism, or becoming a part of the faith family at CLBC. If you would like to be presented to the church family at the end of the Worship Service you regularly attend, you may do so. The pastor will present you at the close of the service and people will be able to come by and welcome you at the front of The Worship Center.
